Artist's Description

Cabezon Peak is a volcanic plug (the solidified throat of a volcano, once the volcano has eroded) near the Ojito Wilderness just north of Albuquerque New Mexico. It resembles the Devil's Tower in Wyoming. It's surrounded by some 50 volcanic peaks as part of the Mt. Taylor Volcanic Field, but remains the largest in the area (with the exception of Mt. Taylor itself--which is a stratovolcano reaching over 11,000 ft.). Not many people associate New Mexico with volcanos, but the many volcanic fields contribute to many of the state's most notable landmarks.

About David Diaz

David Diaz

Welcome to my photography page. My name is David Diaz. From 9 to 5 (ish), I am a freelance web-developer and full time nerd. I grew up cherishing the arts, and while web work pays the bills, I've always considered myself an artist at heart. Photography has only been a fixation of mine for the last 2 or 3 years, but I come to it from a career in dance, and before that years dabbling in painting and drawing. Born in Seattle, and after living 9 years in Tokyo, Japan, I came back to the US with my family only to find ourselves rolling from one city to the next. New Mexico captured our hearts, plain and simple, and we currently live in the deserty outskirts of the Albuquerque metro. We love to travel, and it will probably show in this gallery....
